“Self-Pity”, the 15th of the 2006 Get A Mac ad campaign chronicles PC’s descent into madness as the PC versus Mac battle heats up where PC tends to excel (pardon the pun) – in the office.

The ad opens with PC wearing his usual stuffy office worker garb and Mac beside him in a sharp, black, tailored suit and tie. PC immediately takes note and asks why the wardrobe change.

“What’s with the big boy clothes?” asks PC.

“Oh this?” responds Mac. “Yeah, I just got back from a meeting?”

“Why? Why were you at a meeting? Why?” asks a startled PC.

“I can do work stuff too” says Mac, defensively. “I’ve been running Microsoft Office for years.”

With this, PCs eyes pop. His skin gets clammy. He looks beside himself. He says, almost panting, unable to complete thoughts, “Microsoft Off…work stuff…oh boy.” He looks up and offscreen, gasping, and then leans forward, grabbing his thighs. He sighs heavily, “Oh, I knew this day would come.”

Mac rolls his eyes at this over-reaction and almost attempts to console PC.

Then, PC proclaims he has to sit down. “Wow” he bellows as he plops onto the floor.

“There’s plenty of work out there for the both of us. I don’t know why you’re acting like this,” exclaims an exasperated Mac.

PC, now lying completely flat on the floor, so that only his torso and limbs are visible, whines, “Why go on? Just let me lie here and depreciate.”

PC rolls over. Mac smirks. Mac wins again.
